Patti Lehman has been the director of the library since August 2004. She holds an MS in Education from Oklahoma State University. She and her husband are both OSU alumni but now must claim a house divided since her son chose OU Medical. She enjoys the many hats she wears as a rural library director. She brings her educational background, problem-solving experience, and a drive to organize. She has read most of the classics during her studies but now enjoys reading paranormal romances and science fiction. She is a big fan of series and never reads them out of order.
Carla Deupree has been our assistant librarian since May 2023. Before coming to the library, she was the teacher’s assistant at the LIFT Community Action Agency Head Start for about 15 years. She married her husband in 1998, and they have one daughter. She graduated from Valliant High School in 1993 and has some college education. She loves her family, friends, and animals. She is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Friends of the Antlers Library.
Professor Booker Read has been the library cat since March 2022. He quickly rose through the ranks to become Vice President of Marketing after staff noticed that any post featuring him received significantly more likes and comments. His presence brings joy to patrons of all ages, and he takes his responsibilities—napping, greeting visitors, and occasionally walking across keyboards—very seriously. Booker spends most of his days lounging in sunny windows, supervising circulation from the tops of bookshelves, and ensuring that no unattended bag goes un-sniffed. Though he hasn’t officially attended college, he considers himself well-read and is especially fond of curling up next to patrons enjoying a good book. He welcomes friendly pets but reserves the right to change his mind at any time.
