Children have a new way to learn and play at the Antlers Public Library!

Thanks to a $3,602 Oklahoma Department of Libraries Technology Grant, the Library has a new AWE AfterSchool Edge computer for children ages 6–12.

The new computer replaces an AWE AfterSchool Edge that served our community for more than 10 years. The older computer still worked, but its touchscreen had stopped working. That made it difficult for younger children who were still learning how to use a mouse.

Families are already noticing the difference.

“She really likes the touch screen. It’s so much easier to use than the older one,” one parent told us.

The AWE AfterSchool Edge offers educational games and activities in reading, math, science, art, music, and more. It is not connected to the open internet, giving children a safe space to explore and learn independently.

The Library also purchased a new AWE Early Literacy Station for ages 2–8 this summer with funds allocated by the City of Antlers. Together, the two computers provide touchscreen learning opportunities for children from preschool through age 12.
